We’re excited to host the Pride Book Fair, celebrating queer stories and voices! This free event will feature entirely LGBTQIA+ books, author readings/signings, drag performances, community resources, and vendors. It’s a space for connection, affirmation, and resistance against the censorship of banned books.

Accessibility

We recognize disability justice (DJ) and The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) as a part of our larger civil rights tradition, and strive to celebrate diversity and include all members of our community.

  • American Sign Language (ASL) interpreters will be provided next to the stage during the entire event duration.

  • Venue security will be present.

  • Inside the mansion and carriage house will have air conditioning. Shade tents will be available outside.

  • 150 seats will be available in front of the stage.

  • Service animals are welcome inside and outside of the venue.

  • Photography will be taking place at the event. “No photos” stickers will be available at the entrance for those who would not like to appear on camera.

  • Masking is NOT required. Masks will be provided at the entrance for those who want them.

  • All restrooms during this event will be made gender neutral.

  • The Brazos Transit District provides bus transportation to behind the Astin Mansion via the Orange route until 7pm for $1 (or free for Blinn and TAMU Students & Staff with ID). For $2, ADA paratransit service to the curb is available.

  • Parking spots are available in a parking lot directly across the street or along the street all for free.

  • Being an older building, the Astin Mansion does have accessibility barriers. But we are here to help! There is a concrete ramp to a door on the front right side on the mansion to access the indoors portion of the event. To access the outdoors portion of the event, wheelchair users will have to go around the outside of the mansion as the back door directly to the outdoors has stairs. There are four restrooms available at the Astin Mansion. Two small restrooms indoors, and two larger restrooms outdoors. The outdoors restrooms are within a trailer and require steps to access. For wheelchair users, there is an accessible restroom in the office building next to the mansion. The host at the front door can show you where that restroom is located.
